Support Groups offered by McLaren Bay Region

The Bay Area Cancer Support Group meets on the first Thursday of each month (May 6) from 3:30 p.m.-5:00 p.m. at the Karmanos Cancer Institute, McLaren Bay Region West Campus, 3140 West Campus Drive, Bay City. This group provides an open discussion for patients, families, and friends who are dealing with cancer. A registered social worker facilitates this group. Participants can learn about the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, as well as learn new coping skills. For more information, please call (989) 894 3180.

The Breast Cancer Support Group will meet on Thursday, May 5 at 6:00 p.m. in the conference room at the Health Pavilion, 3175 W. Professional Drive in Bay City. Tari Stull, MD, Breast Surgeon, and Nancy Morrow, RN, Breast Health Navigator, host the support group meeting and are happy to answer individual questions from participants. RSVP by calling Nancy at (989) 667 6357. “Please join us as we discuss the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life event, scheduled for Saturday, May 21st from 10:00 a.m. until midnight in Wenonah Park, Bay City. Presented by: “Boosum Buddies,” Breast Cancer Support Team.

Precious Reflections, a pregnancy and infant loss support group, will meet on Tuesday, May 3 (first Tuesday of each month) from 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. at the Lincoln Center, 820 South Lincoln, Bay City. The support group is open to parents and their support persons who have experienced a pregnancy loss through miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, SIDS, or the death of a newborn. Caring for Others
meets the second Wednesday of each month at the Center for Rehabilitation, McLaren Bay Region West Campus, 3190 E. Midland Road in Bay City.  The next meeting is Wednesday, May 11 at 6:00 p.m.  This support group is designed for individuals who have the responsibility of taking care of others, whether it is a family member or friend, and is offered free of charge. The Amputee Support Group will meet on Tuesday, June 7 from 12:00 noon-1:00 p.m. at the Center for Rehabilitation, McLaren Bay Region West Campus, 3190 East Midland Road in Bay City. This group was formed to provide support and information for individuals with an amputation. There is no charge for the program and family members are welcome. The Bay Area Stroke Support Group meeting will take place on Tuesday, June 14 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the Center for Rehabilitation, McLaren Bay Region West Campus, 3190 East Midland Road, Bay City. This support group was formed to provide support and information for individuals who have had a stroke.  There is no charge for the program and family members are encouraged to attend.
