DOUGLAS W. KUEFFNER, AIA RECEIVES 2017 Robert F. HASTINGS AWARD


In recognition of his contributions to AIA Michigan and the profession, Douglas W. Kueffner, AIA received the 2017 Robert F. Hastings Award at the AIA Michigan Honor Awards Ceremony held recently in Detroit.

A Partner of WTA Architects, Doug received a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Lawrence Technological University in 1974 and a Master of Architecture from Washington University in 1978. He became a Registered Architect in both Michigan and Ohio in 1980. Joining WTA in 1986 as an experienced Project Architect, Doug served as President of the firm from 2003 through 2011. He currently oversees client development, project management and contract oversight. His projects have included those for hospitality, education, commercial and religious clients.

Doug is active in the profession and his community. He was the 2011 President of AIA Michigan where he served on the Board of Directors for seventeen years. He has served on the Boards of AIA Saginaw Valley and the Michigan Architectural Foundation.

Doug and his wife, Edie, live in Frankenmuth where he is a dedicated member of the community. Doug has been involved in the leadership of his church, a past member of the Frankenmuth Jaycees and currently serves as Past President of the Frankenmuth Rotary Club.
