Construction begins at The Legacy The redevelopment of the Crapo Building begins this July in Downtown Bay City.

Bay City, July 5, 2017: A 127-year-old building is now undergoing its redevelopment as Spence Brothers Construction begins work. The redevelopment will transform the five-story vacant property into a mixed-use building featuring a restaurant, offices, and twenty-six apartments.

The apartment design aesthetic is 1920s pre-war inspired in keeping with the history of the building. Original doors and hardware will be restored and used for bedrooms and baths. Kitchens will feature Kohler fixtures and granite counters with stainless steel appliances. “Quinn Evans Architects (Detroit, MI) have been phenomenal in designing and detailing how to bring this building back to its former glory,” says Jenifer Acosta.

This historic structure built in 1890 has a Romanesque Revival façade that has been covered with a midcentury modern paneled exterior. The panels will be removed, the masonry will be repaired, and the lower levels will be redesigned to complement the historic facade. The Legacy development team anticipates completion in Fall of 2018.
