Saginaw Art Museum Announces New Staff Positions

Saginaw, Michigan –The Saginaw Art Museum announces the addition of Sarah Trew as Associate Curator and Jennifer Gray as Event Coordinator. Trew grew up in Hemlock, MI. She graduated from Indiana University in May 2015 with a Master of Library Science. After Indiana University, Trew moved to London and earned her MA in Museums, Galleries and Contemporary Culture from the University of Westminster. During her time in London, Trew worked at the Victoria and Albert Museum and Design Museum in both visitor facing and collections management roles.

Trew’s main objective is to work with museum staff to present exhibitions and programs that fulfil the museum’s mission of Art for All. Outside of the museum, Trew spends her free time enjoying the many outdoor adventures offered by Michigan’s diverse landscape in addition to visiting other cultural institutions.

Jennifer Gray, Event Coordinator, was born and raised in Saginaw, Michigan. She graduated from Columbus College of Art and Design (CCAD) in May 2015 with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts. Gray is a watercolor artist with a soft spot for printmaking. During her time at CCAD, she participated in group and solo shows both locally and nationally.

Gray will be working alongside committees and the ActionART Advisory Council to plan events and fundraisers in order to promote the Museum. Outside of the museum, Gray enjoys exploring, hiking and spending time with her family.

“We are delighted to welcome Sarah and Jenn to the Saginaw Art Museum team,” said Stacey Gannon, Executive Director of the Saginaw Art Museum. “We are fortunate, during this time of transition, to have found two highly qualified and talented individuals to fill the roles of Associate Curator and Event Coordinator. Of course, we will greatly miss Eric and Emily, who have both left an indelible footprint with our museum. Their service has been extraordinary.”

The Saginaw Art Museum will be hosting a free WNEM After Hours event on Wednesday, July 19th, 6-8pm, to formally welcome Sarah & Jennifer to the SAM Team, and say farewell to former Associate Curator, Eric Birkle, and former Manager of Museum Services, Emily Korn.
